The pedagogical exhibition of the
“Metamorphosis” project, carried out by the 1st year students of the Visual
Arts Degree, of the University of Minho, will be on display from June 4 until
June 29, 2025, in the SMS Exhibition Gallery, at the following times: Tuesday
to Sunday, from 10:00-12:30 and 14:30-17:30. On June 9 (Monday), at 5pm, there
will be a public presentation of the works.
The “Metamorphosis” project proposed the
reinterpretation of images from the Sociedade Martins Sarmento print collection
through various creative stages. Each student began their journey by selecting
several prints, intervening on them with drawing and painting, exploring
cut-out techniques, collage and photography, and progressively expanding the
limits of the two-dimensional image.
This exhibition presents part of that process,
up to the 2.5D experimentation phase, where the compositions begin to gain
depth and volume, finally realizing results in a three-dimensional dimension
and spatial awareness, revealing new visual readings and narratives from the
original works.
This project was developed in the Atelier de
Artes Visuais II curricular unit, with teachers Natacha Antão and Alexandre A.
