The 35th edition of the Pladur ® construction solutions competition, entitled “Sanctuary of Aránzazu, a center of artistic inspiration”, aims to create a center of artistic and cultural inspiration, which annually offers accommodation and places to host young creators.
The current edition of the competition reflects on the intervention of a civil engineering project that will offer the possibility of hosting a space for the co-creation of different artistic and cultural disciplines. To face the landscape is to recognize different possibilities of acceptance and encounter. A place, a territory, a time, a culture and a movement through and in space. A connection with a built element and different perceptions that appear or are sought, together with its natural surroundings. Inhabiting a place and conceiving a form of co-creation and encounter are some of the possibilities of this exercise.
Program | The main use will be as a residency center for scholarship creators, whose objective is that, over the course of a year, they produce an artistic object or a relevant investigation within their discipline.
The aim is to foster an interdisciplinary relationship in the field of creation that goes beyond traditional links, expanding the possibilities for co-creation.
In this sense, the project will be developed in the space located under the parking lot of the Basilica of Aránzazu and will include the following program:
1. common areas
2. Residential Area
3. Work Areas
Object of the competition | The object of the competition is based on the use of Pladur® construction systems, boosting synergies between the company and the University, thus seeking collaboration with all institutions close to architecture, with the aim of fostering and promoting the practice of architecture, teamwork and making the new values of architecture known.

Optional tutorial sessions to accompany your work
In this edition of the Pladur awards, and in order to support students interested in participating, two tutorial sessions are proposed:
March 05, 2025, at 15h00
April 16, 2025, at 15h00
Interested students or groups of students should send an email to Professor Carlos Maia (cmaia@eaad.uminho.pt) two days before the meeting requesting the tutoring.
Submission of work | Projects must be uploaded to the official Pladur® competition website before April 23rd at 11:59pm. After this date, entries will not be accepted.
