Centro Cultural Vila Flor | Guimarães
The Vila Flor Cultural
Centre in Guimarães will host the II Design Commit – International
Conference on Design & Industry from March 25th to 27th. The event
will gather 120 professionals, researchers, decision-makers, and citizens from
11 countries to discuss the planet's future through sustainable design.
Under the theme “Design
for different futures | Learning with nature,” the conference features
leading keynote speakers and is promoted by the Municipality of
Guimarães—as part of the European Green Capital 2026 and
the Landscape Laboratory—alongside the University of Minho,
through the School of Architecture, Art and Design, the Lab2PT/IN2PAST
laboratory, and the Design Institute.
The opening session takes
place on Wednesday at 9:30 AM, featuring professors Maria João Félix (IPCA),
Paulo Cruz (UMinho), Fátima Pombo (UAveiro), Fernando Moreira da Silva, and
Rita Almendra (ULisboa), reflecting the national academic unity in this field.
This will be followed by a brief testimony from the co-coordinator of the
European Green Capital, Isabel Loureiro, and a panel with designers Toni
Grilo and Filipe Alarcão on industrial practices and responsibility.
