The School of Architecture, Art and Design of the University of Minho (EAAD) is participating in the new edition of the “EMERGÊNCIAS” Artistic Education and Textile Creation program, promoted by Contextile. To accompany the announcement of this initiative, EAAD has selected a featured image showcasing the artwork developed by its own students.
The program once again challenged art schools with textile disciplines to engage their students in creating works that express a political stance through art.
The initiative aims to assert the role of textiles as a crucial tool for imagining new proposals and reflecting on contemporary social transformations.EAAD’s participation is further highlighted by professor Mónica Faria, who oversaw the guidance of our institution's students and also takes on the general curatorship of the entire exhibition.
The work of EAAD students shares the space at IDEGUI with pieces created by students from seven other reference educational institutions (FBAUL, AA, SR, FBAUP, ESAD, IPCA, and UBI), reinforcing the role of academies as spaces for learning, research, and innovation within the textile universe.
The collective exhibition is on display at IDEGUI – Instituto de Design de Guimarães, located on Rua da Ramada, and can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
