Francisco Ferreira (1968), graduated as an architect at the Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto - FAUP, from where he graduated in 1991. MSc in Architecture at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, with the thesis "Silent Witness - Introdução ao Imaginário Arquitectónico e Urbano de John Hejduk", in 2000. He received his PhD from the Escola de Arquitectura da Universidade do Minho with the thesis "The Capsule and Postwar Architectural Avant-Garde, circa 1956", in 2010.
He is a professor at the Escola de Arquitectura, Arte e Design da Universidade do Minho, where he teaches the courses Project I, Project IV and Cities and Cinema.
He is currently a researcher at Lab2PT, at Universidade do Minho.
He was a fellow researcher at "Silent Rupture - Intersections between Architecture and Cinema. Portugal, 1960-1974", at FAUP, between 2012 and 2014, where he wrote and directed a short fiction film on architecture entitled "Panorama" (2013). "Panorama" was awarded as Best National Short Fiction Film, at the Arquitecturas Film Festival, Lisbon, in 2013 (http://www.jackbackpack.org/panorama).
In 2014, he wrote and directed a second fiction short-film entitled "Anywhere" (http://www.jackbackpack.org/anywhere).
In 2020, he produced and directed an experimental short-film entitled Are you Now, or Have You Ever Been? (https://vimeo.com/384108433).
He has been studying the relations and intersections between Architecture and Cinema, and has been lecturing as well as writing and publishing on the subject.
