The School of Architecture, Art and Design of the university of Minho (EAAD) welcomes, next Wednesday, November 10 at 2h30 p.m. the lecture #99 entitled “Reabilitar como articulação de diferentes temporalidades”, by João Mendes Ribeiro. The lecture will be held at Capela, in building 09 – EAAD, Campus Azurém, in Guimarães.
João Mendes Ribeiro was born in
Coimbra in 1960. Graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University
of Porto in 1986. PhD in 2009 from the University of Coimbra where he is
currently Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of the Faculty
of Science and Technology.

Highly Commended, AR awards for emerging architecture, 2000 (London); Diogo de
Castilho Award 2003, 2007, 2011, 2017 and 2021 (Coimbra); FAD 004 Interior
Design and 2016 Architecture Award (Barcelona); Gold Medal for Best Stage
Design, Quadrennial and Prague, 2007; Enor 2009 Award (Vigo); BIAU Award 2012
(Cadiz) and 2016 (São Paulo); RIBA Award for International Excellence 2016

National Award for Architecture in Wood 2021 – PNAM´21 (Guimarães). Selected
for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies Van Der Rohe
Award in 2001 and 2015 (Barcelona), finalist for the RIBA International Prize
2016 (London) and nominated for the DOMUS International Prize for Restoration
and Preservation 2017 (Ferrara) and for the European Union Prize for
Contemporary Architecture – Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2001, 2005, 2011, 2013,
2015 and 2022 (Barcelona). AICA / MC Award (International Association of Art
Critics / Ministry of Culture) 2007, for his work. In 2006 he was distinguished
by the Portuguese Presidency with the Comenda
da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique.
