6. How can I recover my Academic Portal password?
- If you can't remember your password, you can set a new one in the Academic Portal by clicking on
Login (top right-hand corner of the screen), selecting
Forgot password? Then follow the steps indicated.
7. How can I request to update my personal data?
- As a UMinho student, you can update or request to update your personal details via your personal page on the Academic Portal.
- If you want to update your mobile phone number, alternative email address or address, you should go to the Academic Portal >
My profile > Personal data > Change contacts.
- If you want to update other data, such as the data on your identification document (number, validity, affiliation, tax identification number) or the validity of your tetanus vaccination, you must access the Academic Portal and register the request in the Electronic Desk, option

8. What is permanent residence?
- Permanent residence is the address of the place where you usually live.
9. What is a school residence?
- This is the address of the place where you will live during school days. If it is the same as your permanent residence, simply select the option "coincides with permanent residence".
10. I still don't know what the residence will be during term time. How do I fill in this field?
- Select the option "coincides with permanent residence". Once you have defined your address during term time, simply update this information on
My Profile > Personal Details area on the Academic Portal.
11. I can't proceed with my enrolment because when I fill in the field for the level of education, I get the message "the level of education indicated is incompatible with the year of completion!". What should I do?
- This message warns that the level of education selected is not consistent with the year of completion of the qualification. As a general rule, it appears when the student is selecting the
Undergraduate (Licenciatura) > option (pre-Bologna, conclusions prior to 2009), when they should be selecting
Undergraduate – 1st cycle. Correcting this selection will solve the difficulty.
12. How do I submit the documents in the enrolment process?
- In the specific document submission step of the enrolment process, click on
browser, select the document file you want and click on
add.
13. If, after registering, I want to add, remove or change a course unit, is that possible?
- Changes to enrolment are permitted for a short period of time, necessarily respecting the ECTS enrolment limits imposed by the Academic Regulations, as well as any limits on vacancies in the case of optional course units.
- The deadline for submitting requests to change your enrolment is published annually in the Notices area of the
Students tab on the Academic Portal.
14. Do I have to choose my course options now?
- If you are presented with the course options to choose from, you must then make your choice.
15. There are no course options to choose from. How do I choose?
- If you are not presented with option courses to choose from, you must make your choice later at the Pedagogical Council of the School/Institute that teaches the course.
16. I've been admitted to the Doctoral Degree in Architecture. If I don't enrol by the established deadlines, will I lose my place?
- Candidates admitted to UMinho study programmes must enrol and register by the deadline, otherwise they will lose their place, which will be transferred to substitute candidates or to the next application stage, where applicable.
17. How do I pay the enrolment fee?
- Once you have registered your enrolment, you must access
My Profile > Payments on the Academic Portal. By clicking on the euro symbol (€) you can select the payment method you want: ATM reference (only possible in Portugal); MB Way (only possible in Portugal); credit card.
18. What is the deadline for payment of the registration fee?
- The deadline for payment is generally the last day of the enrolment period.
- You can confirm the specific date in the area
My Profile > Payments on the Academic Portal.
19. How can I check my enrolment?
- You can check your enrolment at the Electronic Desk of the Academic Portal, optionEnrolments > Check last enrolment.
20. How do I get proof of enrolment?
- Once the registration fee has been paid, you can download the invoice/receipt in the area
My Profile > Payments on the Academic Portal.
- The enrolment declaration will be automatically made available in the area
My Profile > Documents area during the week following the completion and payment of the enrolment.
- You can also confirm your enrolment in the Electronic Secretariat of the Academic Portal, option

21. How can I obtain a statement of enrolment for the academic year?
- Enrolment declarations are issued without the need for students to request them.
- After enrolment and/or registration for the academic year, the declarations are generated automatically, a procedure that is repeated weekly to take account of students who have enrolled in the meantime.
- Those declarations are then digitally signed and made available on the Academic Portal, in the area
My Profile > Documents.
22. How can I obtain proof of enrolment to hand in to the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) for a student visa?
- The issue of a declaration of enrolment for the granting of a residence permit as a higher education student (student visa), in Portuguese or English, can be requested via the Academic Portal (Electronic Desk), by using the option
Requests > New Request > Declaration > Declaration of enrolment (for visa purposes).
- When registering, you can indicate in the "comments" field whether you want the document scanned in response to the request, regardless of the collection method you will select next: sending the document by post (with payment of postage), Academic Portal or collecting the document at the Academic Management Office (Gualtar Campus).
- Picking up the document at the Academic Management Service office will only be possible when the request is in the "awaiting documentation pick-up" status in the Electronic Secretariat.
- The postage costs are set out in the
table of fees in force.
23. How can I request a declaration of enrolment indicating the curricular units in which I am enrolled?
- The issue of a declaration of enrolment with reference to the curricular units in which you are enrolled, in Portuguese or English, may be requested through the Electronic Desk of the Academic Portal, option
Requests > New Request > Declaration > Detailed Declaration of Enrolment.
- At the time of registration, you can choose to send the document by post (upon payment of postage), by electronic verification of the academic situation (only for undergraduate or integrated master's students) or even by picking up the document at the secretariat of the Academic Management Service (Gualtar Campus).
- The collection of the document at the secretariat of the Academic Management Service will only be possible when the request is in the state "awaiting collection of documentation" at the Electronic Desk.
- The shipping costs are set out in the
table of fees in force.
24. How can I request a student card?
- Following the agreement established between UMinho and Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), CGD is responsible for issuing student cards to students enrolled at UMinho study programmes.
- Therefore, to issue the student card, which is essential to identify yourself as a UMinho student, you should go to a Caixa Geral de Depósitos branch, preferably the branch on the Gualtar Campus (Braga) or the nearest branch on the Azurém Campus (Guimarães).

- To have your student card reissued, you should go to a Caixa Geral de Depósitos branch, preferably the branch on the Gualtar Campus (Braga) or the branch closest to the Azurém Campus (Guimarães).
