The traveling exhibition “Beira Central Station in Mozambique: Conservation and maintenance of the heritage of the Modern Movement” will be displayed at EAAD from March 30 to April 20.
This exhibition is the result of ongoing work within the framework of the
Keeping It Modern program, an initiative of the Getty Foundation, in Los
Angeles. In 2019, the aforementioned grant contemplated the conservation and
maintenance project of the Beira Central Station (1957-1966), in Mozambique,
proposed by faculty, researchers and technicians from the School of Engineering
and the School of Architecture, Art and Design of UMinho (Guimarães, P), from
the Faculty of Architecture and from the Physical Planning of the Eduardo
Mondlane University (Maputo, MZ) and the Mozambique Railways (Beira, MZ).
The opening of the exhibition will take place at 5:30 pm on
the 30th of March, preceded by a seminar on the Beira Central Station project.
